Do you want to offer your customers another service besides eyelash extensions? How about eyebrow lamination, which will provide them with beautifully lifted eyebrow hairs with perfect volume? If you don't know how to do it, don't despair, in this article I'll introduce you to the products you'll need for brow lamination and I'll also describe the exact procedure.

Laminated brow

Brow lamination has become more and more popular lately and it's certainly no wonder. It's a brow grooming treatment that provides great volume, nourishes brow hairs and gives the wearer an overall younger look. Women will especially appreciate it in the summer, when it's not convenient to wear any make-up, as laminated brows will last for 6-8 weeks and they don't require to use any cosmetic products.

Who is brow lamination suitable for?

Brow lamination is suitable for clients who have sparse or thick, but unruly eyebrows, do not want or cannot have their eyebrows tattooed or groomed using microblading, but at the same time want groomed eyebrows with glossy combed hairs.

What products are you going to need for brow lamination?

In addition to special brow lamination fluids, you will also need other tools and fluids. So let's take a look at the list of products and tools you can't do without during this procedure.

Tools:

  • brushes for combing or a Y-shaped comb
  • micro-brushes
  • cotton buds or bamboo sticks with velour applicators

Eyebrow lamination liquids

  • lifting cream (1.st step)
  • neutralizing milk (2nd step)
  • hydrating serum (3rd step)

Other additional liquids:

  • cleansing foam
  • lash lifting glue or glue balm
  • eyebrow tint
  • keratin serum for lashes and brows
  • botox for lashes and brows

Preparing eyebrows for lamination

It is a good idea to perform a skin sensitivity test prior to eyebrow lamination (approximately 24-48 hours before the appointment). If there is irritation, swelling or inflammation of the skin, explain to the client that it is not a good idea to proceed with the lamination. If the result is negative, and therefore if the product does not cause any skin reaction, you can apply this technique without any problem. Fill in the findings of this test in the client's chart so that they are recorded and available at all times.

When the client arrives at the salon, sit her comfortably and cover her hair with a headband and cover her upper body with a towel to protect her clothing from any product spillage. Next, remove any makeup from the eye area using a water-based makeup remover and a clean cotton swab. To keep the brows perfectly clean, use a cleansing foam. Once the brows are clean, comb them upwards with a Y-shaped comb or combing brush. If the client's brows are very hard and unruly, apply a thin layer of lash lifting and eyebrow laminating glue to the hairs or use Glue Balm to set them in place.

Map out the quality of the hairs and grade the timing according to their strength in different parts of the brow. For example, in the edges where the brows tend to be weaker, leave the liquids on for a shorter time than on the hairs in the center of the brows. See below for specific timings.

Do not use plastic foli! All products are developed for professional use and therefore no longer require additional "help" to have a sufficient effect. They will handle it themselves. Foils generate heat and speed up the reaction, increasing the likelihood of burning or otherwise damaging the hairs.

Brow lamination process

Application of brow lamination liquids

Always massage the liquid bags thoroughly before opening!

Step 1 - lifting cream

Using a micro-brush or brush, apply the lifting cream from the roots to ¾ of the height of the eyebrows. Apply the cream in the direction of hair growth, making sure it reaches the lower layers of the hair. Keep in mind that combing should be minimal. Do not run the brush over the skin as this could cause abrasion.

Leave the lifting cream on:

    Very fine brows: 3-4 minutes.
    Fine tinted brows: 4-5 minutes.
Natural and healthy brows: 5-6 minutes.
Thick and healthy brows: 6-7 minutes.

Start the timer immediately after applying the liquid and check the brows at regular intervals during this time. These times are approximate and it is always necessary to assess individually how the hairs react to the product. The temperature of the room also has a great influence on the duration of action. Cold can increase the time needed, while heat can significantly reduce it.

Once the hairs on the eyebrows have softened, which may take a shorter or even longer time than described above, remove the cream from the eyebrows with a clean cotton bud. If you don't want to loosen one last hair, don't compromise the entire brow by keeping the cream on for a longer period of time. If most of the brows are pliable and soft, remove the lifting cream and immediately apply a neutralizing milk to stop the cream from reacting. Keep in mind that simply removing the cream with a cotton bud will not stop it from working!

If you have applied the lifting cream to the entire eyebrows at once, it may be that the hairs at the edges are already pliable, but the hairs in the center are not yet. In this case, remove the cream from the edges and apply a neutralizing milk, but leave the lifting cream on in the middle of the brows.

Step 2 - neutralizing milk

Once the hairs are pliable, remove the lifting cream with a dry cotton bud and immediately apply the Lashes PRO Neutralizing Milk to the entire brow. The process is waterless, meaning no water is used between steps 1 and 2.

Leave the neutralizing milk on:

  •     Very fine, soft and colored brows: 5 minutes.
  •     Natural and healthy brows: 6 minutes.

After this time, remove the neutralizing milk with a damp cotton bud. Make sure the hairs are still stuck and in the position you want them. Be careful not to over-wet the brows, as this will interrupt the reaction of the hydrating serum you will apply in the next step.

Elective step in between - tinting and waxing

If the client wishes to tint or wax her eyebrows in addition to the lamination, now is the time. Prepare your tint, apply it with a brush and leave it on as directed. Then wax the eyebrows.

Step 3 - hydrating serum

Using the applicator, apply the hydrating serum to the brows and explain to the client that she must leave it on for 24-48 hours. It needs to be kept dry during this time, so the client needs to be mindful of both water and sweat. It's a good idea to skip running, going to the gym, pool or sauna during this time.

The same liquids you use for brow lamination can also be used for lash lifting. Learn what other tools you will need in the article "Complete instructions for lash lifting" where I describe a detailed procedure for this method as well.

I wish you all the best with brow lamination and if you have any questions, feel free to message me on Instagram, Facebook or email info@lashespro.cz. I'll be happy to answer all your questions.
